6 THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT MICRO NEEDLING

Micro needling also known as “Collagen Induction Therapy” is used to improve the skins texture and tone, surface scarring from acne and injury, stretch marks, and wrinkles by stimulating the skins natural ability to heal itself. Micro needling utilizes the bodies own natural healing mechanisms so the results are very safe and natural. During this healing process it produces Collagen and Elastin. Doctors are saying, “It’s almost as if something so simple couldn’t possibly work, right? But we’re finding that this simple action of creating a tiny wound without heat or any other high technology (such as laser) works remarkably well!”

This minimally invasive treatment is basically painless and incredibly effective. The primary appeal of micro needling is its ability to stimulate growth of collagen and elastin, which is the key to new, youthful-looking skin. Some doctors would even go so far as to say that the procedure is the most powerful way to stop aging in its tracks, and prevent new fine lines and wrinkles from forming.

How does it work?  Micro needling is a treatment that involves using a tool with tiny needle tips to create micro channels (tiny holes) in the skin, which can be adjusted by the professional between 0.5 and 2.5 millimeters. The treatment creates tiny punctures from the needles in your skin. Your body treats a small wound the same way as a large wound, and sends fiber blasts to create more collagen in the affected areas.  I explain to my clients, “It’s like when you get poked with a tiny needle tip, our body sends these little soldiers to the invaded area wanting to heal the intrusion. This in turn creates new collagen and elastin growth that may no longer be active to these targeted areas.” We are basically fooling the skin into believing it has been injured, as a result, we are thickening the skin and improving the texture with this procedure.

There is no tissue damage with micro needling. The small channels in the epidermis close very quickly and the skin begins a healing response right away. Depending on the depth of the needle penetrating the skin you may only see redness, or you may experience some pin point blood that comes to the surface; which stops almost immediately. At this point, where the blood comes to the surface, it triggers a signal to the body to release the collage and elastin. This is very necessary to get the amazing results that Doctors and Professionals are raving about! Instead of looking good for a few days after a facial, your skin is smooth and radiant for much longer.

What areas can be treated?  Micro needling is not only for the face, although this has proven to be a very effective way to smooth out wrinkles, fill in acne scars, eliminate small bumps from clogged pores, and stimulates collagen & elastin growth, this treatment can be done anywhere the skin on your body needs to be thickened. Even for those who have scars and stretch marks found on the arms, legs, chest, and butt. 4-6 sessions on an average usually will do the trick.

Does it hurt?  Many professionals use a numbing creme. This allows us to go to either a lighter surface depth of 0.5 or as deep as 2.5 millimeters to achieve the best results.

What to expect afterwards?  You can expect the skin to be a little pink, and at the very worst tiny punctate dots that fade in a few days. You will want to avoid makeup immediately following for the rest of the day, if possible, but you can apply it the next day as usual. You can have the treatment done on Friday or Saturday and be back to work on Monday.

How often do I get treatments?  It really depends on the condition of your skin. If you take good care of your skin, once every 5-6 months, someone with severe acne scarring will want to come once a month for the first 4-6 months. You can come in once a year for a touch up or whenever you feel you want to give your skin a kick start to regenerate.

How do I get the best results?  The technique  and serums used by your professional will determine the best outcome. There is no question the effectiveness, and instead of using injectable fillers to repair indented areas, this process kick starts your bodys own natural collagen production. Alisa’s treatments begin by first cleansing the face, then a Vitamin Serum is applied. She will then needle the Serum in, apply another layer, then use a mask over the top to seal everything. By incorporating the use of targeted skin care products her clients experience accelerated results. As these target products are used on a daily basis, in the morning and evening, clients will see continued improvement over the next several weeks. Reducing fine and deep wrinkles and improving acne and other scarring or bumps.

Not only are my clients noticing improvements in their skin after just one treatment, but their Dermatologists are noticing. This is a wonderful treatment with lasting results! Get your appointment scheduled today by calling Alisa at 419-680-1486
